2008 World Memory Olympics is happening in Turkey on 1 – 2 November in Istanbul for the first time. The best brains of the world are coming to the World Culture City Istanbul for MEMORIAD™ (a word coined from the words MEMORy and olympIAD), Mental Calculation, Memory and Photographic Speed Reading Olympiads.

Memoriad 2008 games that 44 competitors applied to, will be opened on 1 – 2 November with incredible memory and mental math shows in The Marmara Hotel Taksim. Some of the brain shows to be performed in the opening;

SUPER OPENING SHOWS FROM SUPER BRAINS

Bernett Orlando: Bernett Orlando who is one of the Rubic Cube (Magic Cube) champions and 12 years old from India will complete the magic cube disarranged by the viewers when he is blindfold.

Rudiger Gamm: German Rudiger Gamm who is known in all over the World by documentaries of the Discovery Channel about his brain will calculate any power of any number faster than a calculator in live.

Π Adam Ulrich Voight: Ulrich Voight who is famous for his ability to memorize thousands of digits of the Pi number after the comma will perform an interesting live show before the media.

John Louis: John Louis who is one of the world memory masters will memorize 40 spoken one digit numbers without seeing. After all the numbers are said he will repeat these numbers at once.

OTHER SUPER BRAINS TO COME TO THE COMPETITIONS

Ben Pridmore: English Ben Pridmore who is one of the world memory champions has a lot of memory records. He is famous for his ability to memorize a pack of card under 30 seconds.

Alberto Coto: Spanish Alberto Coto has two Guinness records about mental math. He can also perform a surprise show in the opening.

Gunther Karsten: The world memory champion of last year. He has a few world records.

Arturo Mendoza: Peruvian Mendoza is known as “Human Calculator” by world television channels.

Andi Bell, Jan Van Koningsveld, Johannes Mallow  and others; they are all best brains of the World.

MEMORIAD PROMOTES THE WORLD CITY ISTANBUL BY A SPECIAL PROJECT

MEMORIAD sponsored by Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism and Mega Hafıza promotes Istanbul by a special project.

Melik Duyar who is one of the former Memory Champions and famous for his memory shows in different TV channels prepared a special e-book in English named “Memory Training Manual”. This book is distributed to all people visiting www.memoriad.com without any fee.

The only way to have the 49.– US$ value memory book as free is passing from watching the commercial of Turkey that a mermaid is seen in and prepared by Turkish Republic Ministry of Culture and Tourism and sometimes can be seen on CNN International. In order to download the memory e-book, you have to write a secret code that can only be captured from the end of the one minute commercial of Turkey at the download page of www.memoriad.com.

IT IS GIVEN OUT 22. 000. – US $ PRIZE MONEY IN MEMORIAD 2008

There are mental competitions in total 9 categories in Memoriad to be organized once in four years parallel to the Olympic Games in the World;

1-) Names and Faces,

2-) Mental Multiplication,

3-) Binary Numbers,

4-) Mental Square Roots,

5-) Speed Cards,

6-) Mental Calendars,

7-) Numbers Marathon,

8-) Mental Additions,

9-) Photographic Speed Reading.

In Memoriad 2008, the competitions will be performed in first 8 categories except of “Photographic Speed Reading”.

Winner of each categories will be given 1500. – US $. Second place of each categories will be given 750. – US $ and third place of each categories will be given 500. – US $ respectively. Total 22. 000. – US $ will be given out. Sponsor of the prize money is Mega Hafıza.

MEMORIAD 2008 WILL BE OPERATED BY A COMPUTER PROGRAM

MEMORIAD ensures an international standard for the mental calculation and memory championships that has been performed traditionally in different areas of the World by using papers and pencils. The competitions will be managed by a computer program for the first time. This software is the future of mental sports.

Everyone from any place of the World can reach without any fee to Memoriad computer program prepared by MegaRob Software Company in English, German, Spanish, French and Turkish and they can make exercises for the competitions. You can also download this program from www.memoriad.com without and fee and you can see what is asked in the world memory Olympics. Also, you can try yourself on the basis of “what you can do if you join these competitions”. Who knows, maybe we can see you as a competitor in the next games.

MEMORIAD IS A REGISTERED TRADE MARK IN 148 COUNTRIES IN THE WORLD

After the acceptance of that we are in the brain age, interest of the world on mental sports olympiads like “MEMORY” and “MENTAL MATH” increased.

“MEMORIAD™” term commonly used in the meaning of “MEMORY OLYMPIAD” was registered in 148 Countries in the World. As of now, once in four years, memory, mental math and photographic speed reading competitions will be organized under the name of Memoriad.

Although it is new, appeals from 8 countries were made in order to organize 2008 Memoriad in their own countries. It will be decided in which city 2012 Memoriad games will be organized after the evaluation of appealed sponsors and candidate countries in 2010.
