I-GENERAL RULES
The sheet of questions of relative category will be put on on the table in front of every participant as closed. All tasks are the same for all participants. The questions will be opened when the chief referee signals and the competition time will start up. After the starting signal, each participant has to turn around the sheet of paper or papers and tries to do expected task or tasks in the given time. Opening the questions before starting signal will cause the participant to be disqualified.

The completion of the competition time will again be declared by the chief referee of the competition by signaling and with this signal all competitors will put their question or answer sheets down as closed and will wait quietly until their sheets being collected. Unreadable solutions or answers will be rated wrong in case of doubts!

All tasks (mental calculation and recall tasks) must be done mentally, aids and written calculations (or written intermediate results in mental calculations) are not permitted! Using mobile phones, recording devices, calculators, namely any devices will not be permitted. If a solution has to be corrected, this should happen in an unmistakable way on the sheet. The possibility of correction may not be misused to write down intermediate results. In mental calculation categories, the competitor will use the pen or pencil for only writing the results.

The correctness of the answers will be more important than the speed or time used. The priority will be the correctness of the answer (e.g. if ten tasks are to be solved, then eight correct solutions in ten minutes will in any case be better ranked than seven correct solutions in two minutes). However, in case of equal number of the answers the speed or the time used will be considered.

Provided that it will be informed beforehand, for physically handicapped participants, who are unable to read the tasks or write down the solutions, the jury may set special rules and make necessary arrangements.

All competitors are expected to be silent during the competition. Competitors who disturb others will be disqualified. For example; a competitor whose mobile phone is ringing at the moment of competition will be disqualified immediately.

The competitors who are expected to do this task in less than 6 minutes must inform the committee of the organization beforehand. For them, the committee of organization will appoint special adjudicator with a 1/100 second sensitive chronometer. The competitor must inform the adjudicator about his/her appropriate signal that indicates that the memorization task has finished. During memorization the cards can be looked at repeatedly and more than one card can be looked at simultaneously.

After memorization, the deck of playing cards committed to memory will be put in its box without changing the order (as the top card being the first one memorized) and the name of the competitor will be written on the box. Then the competitor will wait silently until other competitors complete this task.

After the chief referee of the competition announced that the time for this category is completed, a standard answer sheet prepared for this category will be distributed to each competitors so that they can write their answers. The competitor has to write his answers on that paper in 5 minutes (as 1st: 3 of spades; 2nd : Jack of Clubs; 3rd : 2 of diamonds). When the finish of 5 minute recall time given is announced, the competitor will put his pencil or pen down immediately. After the completion announcement, the competitor who writes anything in the answer sheet will be disqualified.

Later, the chief referee will take each competitor’s deck of playing cards and answer sheet by attaching each other and the evaluation will be made.

In this category, a new deck namely a second trial right will be given to the competitors. From the results obtained from both attempts, the better score will count.

6) MENTAL MULTIPLICATIONS (Ten Mental multiplication of two 8-digit numbers)

Time: 15 Minutes

As in the following example, ten questions of two 8-digit number multiplication will be given;

    43765643
    91467149
X___________

(If the competitor would like the multiplication question forms like 43765643 x 91467149, he or she should inform the committee of the organization beforehand so that they make the necessary arrengements)

All numbers will be chosen randomly and each number will be eight-digit (so there will be no numbers of which first digit is zero). The answer will be the multiplication of the numbers given. As the competitor makes the mental multiplication, he can write the last result of the multiplication from right to left or from left to right in order. However, while the multiplication is made in mind, intermediate-results and results on hand cannot be written at any corner of the paper or anywhere. 9) PHOTOGRAPHIC SPEED READING (Determining the photographic reading speed and the rate of understanding of an unpublished long new text, book or booklet supplied by the committee of Memoriad organization)

Time to Read : 15 to 60 Minutes (Depend on Reading Material)

Time to Answer : 15 to 30 Minutes (Depend on Question Types)

This competition is open to everybody whose speed of reading is 220 words or over per minute. An unpublished long new text, book or booklet not met before anywhere will be given to the competitors and a time will be kept. The competitor finishing his or her reading will signal the referee and put the reading material down as closed and will wait silently for others’ finishing their readings.

After reading stage is over, reading materials will be collected and a test including questions about the read text will be distributed to the competitors. "The rates of understanding" will be determined according to the number of correct answers. The committee of organization has the right of asking any type of questions other than test types.

The competitors whose rate of understanding is under 60% will be disqualified. In case of ties in the first three ranks, a second test including additional questions about the text will be given to the competitors in equal ranks.

Photographic speed reading points will be calculated as the multiplication of reading speed value and the rate of understanding. Let’s say a competitors raw reading speed is 1400 words per minute and his or her rate of understanding is % 70, then the total points count is (1400x0.70=) 980 words per minute or points.
